First Free Methodist Makes Impact at Roblealto

Seven young adults and their pastor from a Free Methodist Church in Seattle, Washington are working hard the week of Aug 31 - Sept 5. So far four projects are on the go:

  • A walkway leading from the cafeteria area up to the main road
  • A newly organized "shop" for newly arrived kids to find clothes and household items
  • Painting in the apartment area where kids stay over the weekend
  • A mural on the outside wall of the school showing Costa Rican animals

First Free Methodist volunteers report on their experience

"I came to Roblealto because I have an interest in learning about my own Latino heritage. I've enjoyed the house visits with the kids where we played cards and learned about their lives."

Nick Anderson, 22, working on the path

"I came because Pastor Jason kept talking to me about the trip. At first I just blew it off but a seed was planted. Soon it just seemed like the right thing to do! I love how at Roblealto they really invite you to be part of the community and build relationships."

Evan Simmons, 20, working on the path

"At first I hesitated to come on this trip to Costa Rica as I am graduating and initially felt I should focus on the next step in my life. But Pastor Jason's invitation stayed with me. I just felt like I should go even though I had no idea what Roblealto was all about. I love how they help families in a holistic way, getting them on their feet again. I was impressed by the number of services they offer to the parents as well as the kids in the program."
