Plan Your Mission Trip at Roblealto!

Many churches and Christian organizations are discovering the benefits of mission trips and cross-cultural experiences. Roblealto has been hosting groups from around the world for many years. Let us host your group for a life-changing and Christ-centered experience of service and learning!

Cost: $20 a day / person for food and lodging through Roblealto. You arrange your own flights and raise funds toward your work project. We accommodate up to 26 people per week, youth, adults and intergenerational groups.

This week Roblealto's Bible Home hosted a group of seven high school students led by one of their fathers. Chuck Webster, of Medina, MN traveled with his two daughters and their friends to Costa Rica on a mission trip. While at the Bible Home, they worked hard to paint the majority of the interior of Nido House. But it was the evenings spent with the children of Nido, and other houses, that defined their week of mission. The students brought creative crafts to share, and in the end a great connection was made.

This trip represented a different kind of mission experience, one based on families. Normally, groups come to Roblealto connected through a specific church. But this group proved that Christian families and friends can be very effective in mission together! We thank Mr. Webster for his leadership and vision and for the young women who blessed the children of Roblealto!

The staff and children of Roblealto enjoyed the ministry of New River Church from Lake Wylie, South Carolina and the heart of love they brought to the Bible Home. This was New River´s first time at Roblealto and we are looking forward to a long and fruitful friendship in Christ. The multi-generational group painted in two of the homes and completed an enclosed shelving unit in the laundry room that will help the housekeeping staff keep the many daily loads of laundry organized and clean.

But the biggest gift that the New River group brought to Roblealto was the intentional time they spend with the children in the homes. By way of games and activities they formed strong bonds in the homes they were assigned to, and the love of God flowed easily between children and volunteers. On the last night New River suprised the children with a pizza party and the staff of Roblealto created a World Cup themed event for the evening.

This wonderful group demonstrated that just one visit to Roblealto can affect you for a lifetime. This was especially the case as the group visited the Los Guido community and saw the land upon which Roblealto plans to build its fourth child care center. New River returned to the states with a desire to see the necessary funds raised!

Roblealto's Bible Home was blessed last week with the arrival of motivated young adults from Washington. This group was organized by Matt Stokes who visited Roblealto in the fall and was so touched by ministry to children at the Bible Home that he returned with 21 of his best friends. This group was truly a special addition to the 2010 volunteer year. The students came from many walks of life with varying degrees of exposure to missions, but they were unified in their love for Jesus Christ and their passion for putting that faith into action.

The group tackled four projects at the Bible Home: painting at the Enrique Strachan School, removing nails from wood recycled from Casa Arco Iris, various landscaping projects, and building cabinets for sports equipment in the Activity Center. Some students also volunteered to helped some of the teachers and the staff prepare for the Bible Home's annual camp.

One of the highlights of the week was the large amount of donations the group brought for the kids: sports equipment (which included over 70 soccer balls), clothing and school supplies. The sports director received these gifts with tears as they were all of the items on his wish list to improved the recreation program!

At the end of the week the young adults traveled with the kids to a special annual camp where they served as helpers and leaders. This year's theme was My Best Play and was based on the much anticipated World Cup of Futbol. The kids learned about how Jesus was the best coach and that following him is the best play any of us can make in our lives.

Roblealto was grateful for the love and energy this group brought to Costa Rica!
