Irene, one of our dear instructors at the Home of the Happy Child Day Care Center wants to share her experience as a friend and guide for the children. Irene has a beautiful relationship with all the children at the day care and it is demonstrated by the love and care she transmits to them every day.
The experience we have here as instructors in Roblealto is very enriching. First personally, because you never know what you will find daily, as the children come with different situations from their homes , sometimes they come hungry, sometimes they come frowning because they were scolded on their way…well they go through many situations. So, first you have to prepare yourself in prayer each morning so God will give you the strength to see how they come and discernment to find out how can you help them. I see their faces to see how they are that day and I get to know them. In their eyes you learn to see the sadness and sometimes, it is true, they come frowning, hungry, or maybe they had a problem at home. This comes with the daily living.
It is a beautiful experience to assist them, even if it is only to put cologne on them. At this age (9-12) they are very independent, so it is not the same to take them to brush their tooth, but I like the fact that they get on line to get cologne splashed on them…they want that contact instructor to child , even the boys who are pre-adolescents. It feels so good to be a channel, a bridge of blessing to them.
The spiritual progress is another fact that enriches your life. For example, there are children who start the program in January and don't know anything about God's Word and by this time of the year they have all the knowledge, they know the texts but most important is the change in them. If they have any problem they say "Teacher let's pray" or "may have a word with you, I would like to tell you something". It calls my attention because one of these days I came a little burdened and they noticed. Without saying a word, they prayed for me. When they told me I thought "this is beautiful, I didn't have to tell them and they read my eyes. It is beautiful how the Lord supports them with prayer.
To see the progress when they praise the Lord, when they adore, when they sing and culturally too, when they prepare any performance with enthusiasm. Those things leave a mark in your life and its like filling up a basket where you go picking up all that you can see, then God will work on what you can not see and some day I will find them working at a bank, in offices and government ministries, that is what you inject in them
