I came to the Bible Home in 1964, with my two sisters and brother. By that time I was 7 years old. The reason for our entering was my mother's death. Of course, this was a very hard situation for us and my father. My mother accepted the Lord years before her death, with Methodist missionaries who visited our house. They convinced my father that the best he could do for his four little ones, was the Bible Home.
I thank God for the care, education and love that we received there. It is a shame that some of the children who grew up with me didn't take advantage of all those blessings.
The person who influenced my life powerfully was Jessie Stevens "mom" as we all called her. She was a woman of faith, who inculcated in us a genuine love for God. The other person was Milr? Lisso, who encouraged me to study, even to participate in an exchange student experience in the United States. When I came back she gave me the chance to work and contribute with the translation of letters to the sponsors, written by the Roblealto children. This job helped me to finish my degree of licentiate in Pre School Education.
So you can see that even though I had hard situations in my life, I did not think there was no hope ahead. The Lord even allowed me to make my childhood dream come true. I always wanted to be reunited with all my brothers and sisters. When I was 18, with the Lord's help, I was able to rent a house with them. We lived together for 7 years.
I got married to a Pastor when I was 24. We have three precious sons 21, 19 and 17 years old. We all are so involved in the pastoral labor. God gave us the chance to live as a family in Europe. My husband got his PhD. In the University of Edinburgh, in Scotland.
We are presently the pastors at a church in Hatillo, San Jose Costa Rica. During the last few months I had the chance to meet with Margaret Weir. My husband and I had the opportunity to talk to parents from Roblealto and take our mimic group to the 15 de Setiembre Day Care Center.
I would like to encourage you all to keep on working for this precious ministry, that protects children in our country. That is why I decided to write and I want to put my grain of sand to this organization that has meant so much in my life and I am sure that other alumni from all the centers of Roblealto can say the same.
May our good God bless you all!
