“A well-educated child becomes an adult capable of contributing to society and the economy. This reduces dependency on state aid and promotes sustainable growth.”
Education in Costa Rica has long been a cornerstone of the country’s development. However, recent years have underscored the need to rethink our investment strategies, especially those focused on early childhood. Research shows that for every dollar invested in childhood, the State saves up to 17 dollars in the future. This compelling statistic invites us to reflect on the importance of prioritizing resources at this critical stage.
Childhood is a decisive period for developing skills, values, and capacities that will shape the future of our children. A lack of investment in education and support services during these formative years can lead to significant long-term costs, both financially and in terms of quality of life and social cohesion.
In Costa Rica, where education has historically been regarded as a right, it is essential to focus our efforts on the youngest. This means not only improving educational infrastructure but also training teachers, strengthening comprehensive support programs, and ensuring access to adequate health and nutrition services.
The benefits of these investments are clear: a well-educated child grows into an adult capable of contributing to society and the economy, reducing dependence on state aid and fostering sustainable growth. Quality education in childhood is a powerful tool for ensuring holistic development.
The Roblealto Association stands out for its commitment to supporting children through their educational journeys. With a holistic approach, we work to provide children with a safe and stimulating environment that fosters emotional, social, and academic growth. Through innovative programs and constant support for families, we ensure that each child has access to resources that enhance their learning and well-being. We firmly believe in educating the mind, soul, and body through happiness, and we know that investing in childhood is key to building a more just and equitable future.
The invitation is clear: the time to act is now. We must unite efforts among government, civil society, and the private sector to ensure that every child in Costa Rica receives the support and education they deserve. Only then can we ensure a more prosperous and equitable future, where investing in childhood is not seen as an expense but as the foundation of our sustainable development. Education is the path; let’s keep it in sight.
